Celebrating the life of
Ann Reynolds Felton
September 04, 1931 - September 08, 2011
PONTE VEDRA, Florida - Educator and civic leader Ann Reynolds Felton passed away on September 8, 2011 in Savannah, Georgia while on a trip.
Born in Coeburn, Virginia, in 1931, Ann lived in Roanoke, Virginia, before entering the College of William and Mary. A history major, she was a member of the College Chorus and Chi Omega Sorority. After graduation in 1953, she taught in the George Mason School in Alexandria, Virginia before marrying John W. "Jack" Felton, then an officer in the USAF Strategic Air Command. She continued her teaching career in Spokane public schools while Jack was stationed at Fairchild Air Force base.
Later, as Jack's corporate career progressed through many different cities, Ann volunteered with the Junior League and other community services. She established the Golden Age Hobby Show in Long Beach, California; with two other civic leaders she founded the Three Rivers Arts Festival in Pittsburgh; and in Kansas City she inaugurated the first drug education program for the public school system and resumed her teaching career at St. Paul's Episcopal School.
In Baltimore, she and two other volunteers started the first Decorator Show Houses to raise funds for the Baltimore Symphony. During just the first few years, these redecorated historic houses raised millions of dollars for the symphony. For her success she received a special citation from the city and the Baltimore Symphony Associates. She also chaired the Hunt Valley Antique Show which benefited the Baltimore Museum of Art.
When Jack retired, they moved to Vicar's Landing in Ponte Vedra, Florida where she chaired the annual dinners of the Nine Holers Lady Golfers and served as co-chair of social activities for two years.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, and her three children: Dr. Fred Felton wife, Joanne of Baltimore, Maryland; Dr. David Felton wife, Sarah of Green Bay, Wisconsin and MariAnn Felton Seyboldhusband, James of Fairfax, Virginia. There are six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Palms Presbyterian Church, 3410 S. 3rd. Street, Jacksonville Beach, Florida 32250.
Remembrances: In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to the Vicar's Scholarship Fund, 1000 Vicar's Landing Way, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida 32082 or the Haiti Relief Fund at the Palms Presbyterian Church.

My prayers are for the family and friends. I know Anne will be missed. She always lived her life as an example for others. It was my pleasure to play bridge and share in her wisdom of life. A true lady!

Dear Jack & Family: It was with shock and sadness that I learned of Ann's untimely passing. Every day since September 8 I think of her and the short, but fun, conversations we would share at Fitness Together in PVB where Ann would follow me for her personal training. Having read of her incredible life and accomplishments makes me feel honored to have known her. I will miss her smile, laugh, quick wit, and loving stories of travel to visit family and friends. Sincerely, Mary
